The pavilion at Sabarmati Ashram aims to create a public gathering space which doubles as an exhibition space for Indian folk art. This should be achieved by responding to the existing elements on-site, such as the Gandhi Ashram built by Charles Corea, surrounding historic buildings and the river; using building elements, kinetic elements and the landscape. The space created would be an ode to Gandhian ideologies in today’s context while creating a memorable experience.
