Greek Orthodox Church, Ahmedabad

Greek Orthodox church; Herzog & de'MeuronAim of the studio is to study the architect's ideologies and apply it to the same project with different conditions in Ahmedabad.  This project replicates the key aspects of the architect's projects such as translucent inner box and semi transparent layer on the outside. Church follows the same typology as other orthodox church but the way of construction and material are being swapped according to the climate of Ahmedabad. Tensile fabric structure are used on outer layer and inner layer is made out of translucent marble  etched with spiritual symbols in the inner side .
