Rajkot is the largest city in Saurashtra and the 4th largest city in the state of Gujarat. The city has a road network connecting major cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, etc. The City of Rajkot has 2 boundaries, namely RMC (Rajkot Municipal Corporation) Boundary and RUDA (Rajkot Urban Development Authority) with an area of 124 sq.km and 689 sq.km respectively. The current population is estimated to be 19.8 lakhs with a growth rate of 3.32% and is expected to increase to 39.59 Lakhs in 2041. Rajkot, like many other cities in India, continues to grow rapidly with expansion in the economy, spatial extent and population. This has led to fast urban growth and urbanization related pressure on infrastructure including urban transport. Due to this, as part of our studio project, we are preparing a Strategic Transportation Plan(STP) for the city of Rajkot so as to develop a long term vision for desirable accessibility and mobility pattern for people and goods in the city to provide, safe, secure, efficient, reliable, seamless connectivity that supports and enhances economic, social and environmental sustainability. (CMP) The need of the study is to learn and understand how to develop a long term vision for the city, propose alternative development strategies and appraise them to arrive at the most optimal set of transport proposals for the city.  This portfolio concentrates on the improvisation of Public Transport in the city of Rajkot.
