Observing the demographic survey, resident of Sarkhej community, are people mostly with middle to low class economic status, with mixed communities and a social segmentation consisting of different traders and professions. These people lack opportunity to educate themselves or provide themselves with certain exposure that is beneficial to them or their community. This intervention would help gain certain set of skills and ability to those who are interested in these kinds of activity and help people from this community to take their stand in the world. Sarkhej Roza being a major part of the community ‘s culture, a shift of identity from Roza to the streets of settlement is felt. This centre of performing art will not only help the residents gain exposure but also restore a sense of place and pride in the community. The centre will provide studio spaces for students to learn the art of dance, drama, and music. The open ground overlooking the water body, gives an opportunity to build an auditorium (600 people) where performances can be held on frequent basis with the knowledge gained by the students in their respective fields. Artist from all over the country can be invited to perform with an intension to impart their knowledge on students learning here, where people from across the city are also invited. This opens up the scope to create a dialogue between the community that necessitates development, and the city as a whole. Events taking place here on the regular basis, will help the community as a whole with creation of opportunities for engagement among people, help in shaping an identity of the place and contribute to economic revitalization.
