This study attempts to examine the process of urbanization in general and city’s own urban challenges. It reviews urban development over the years besides its various initiatives and preparedness to meet urban challenges and ensure urban transformation. The aim of this study is to identify the Physical components support the establishment of a livable environment that is clean, safe and well managed. This type of development is managed as an incremental process over time and it becomes the catalysts for sectoral investment and development. Physical components and characteristics such as transport and movement, streets, built form, precinct characteristics, land-use activities, zoning, social facilities, economic assessment and infrastructure services are discussed.
