Guwahati, a city shaped by time and Brahmaputra is the capital of Assam and is the largest metropolis of Northeast India. The precinct Hatigaon is a predominantly residential unit, located towards the South of the city adjacent to the state capital Dispur. As a part of “Understanding the City”, a 1 Sq.km area of Hatigaon is analysed through various lenses in context to the city. The study shows the journey of the evolution and transformation of the precinct from a sub-urb to a major urban part of the city.
