Ponnani is an ancient seaport and heritage city located on the outskirts of Malappuram district, Kerala. The precinct is located 3.5km away from the city which is closer to the seaport. The precinct is organically developed with local roads homogenous building typology and dense vegetation. The predominant factor that influenced the development is the socio-cultural factor that Ponnani holds. The socio-culture aspect is impacting the built and land development, jobs, and also in the choice of transportation. This portfolio attempts to capture the unique cultural configuration that supported with various analyses from GIS, primary and secondary surveys.
