The railway station has played a key role in development of the precinct and the city. It has also divided the precinct into eastern and western parts which are developed unequally. The western part of the precinct developed earlier due to the administrative offices being located here and has comparatively better road infrastructure while the eastern part experienced growth only in recent years. Commercial buildings are located in the western part near the railway station and along major roads. Residential apartment buildings and detached houses are seen on the secondary and tertiary roads. The eastern part of the precinct has predominantly residential building use. Property prices are also higher in the western part of the precinct as compared to the eastern part. The precinct reflects it’s unplanned peri urban character where areas within 1 sq.km differ from each other.
