This is a study that attempts to understand Jhansi as a city, taking a chunk of 1sqkm. in a periphery called Panchwati. The focus of the study is to understand the significance of the economy in driving the urban pattern. The study answers three questions: 1. What is the economic status of Jhansi? 2. How has the economy materialised into the urban texture? 3. What is the cost of this urban texture, and why? The study positions the economy of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh and analyses the strength and weakness of the city.
