An overview of observations and inferences made about a precinct in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu. Household surveys within the city is taken to understand the reasons behind the choices of the residents. The urban transformation over the past two decades mapped out with respect to the key determinants in the timeline that has caused the physical or social changes. The street network is surveyed to understand the vehicular route characteristics and the path for pedestrian movement. The influence of the market and the temple on the built form is explained through the characteristics of the structure type and its location.
A sample size of 38 household surveys within the city is taken to understand the reasons behind the choices of the residents.
Housing, job and transportation are the three main factors of livelihoods.
Urbanization around a temple narrates the urban transformation undertaken over the past two decades with the key determinants in the timeline that has caused the physical or social changes.
Primary interviews with the residents of the precinct along with government data and research journals unfold the physical changes observed in the aerial images.
