Solapur, also known as ‘Manchester of the East’, is a city in southern Maharashtra which has a strong industrial base. Because of this, Solapur has high workers population which affects various urban aspects in the city. For ‘Understanding the city’, one sq. km area of Budhwar Peth in Solapur is selected which is a commercial hub and the core area of the city. In this portfolio, key features of Budhwar Peth are explored in comparison with other similar industrial cities or smaller Indian cities. It tries to analyze the impacts on high workers population on all these urban aspects.
