The portfolio provides an overall understanding of the brief history and evolution of Kotdwara and development pattern of Jhanda chowk area. As with all small cities, Kotdwara as well is going through development phase sue to current rate of urbanization. Jhanda chowk lie in the core of the city but due to the development phase of the city Jhanda chowk is still growing. The portfolio provides an understanding, the development pattern and expansion of the area through various parameters like history and evaluation, first impression, road networks, land use, built typology and infrastructure services. It provides an insight on the tradeoffs made between jobs, housing and transportation choices. A comparison analysis is done among the precincts of Kotdwara, Uttarakhand Shahada, Maharashtra and Angamaly Kerala to understand the behavior of core in similar tier of city.
