Karnataka is the sixth largest state in India. Bangalore being the capital of the state Karnataka is also the capital of IT industries for the Country. Bangalore is 3rd most populous city in India and ranks 2nd for IT industries across the world with 1.5 million employees working in IT industries. The City is divided into three zones, Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Ramanagar which is been overlooked by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) as an Umbrella Authority. Bangalore Urban area which is about 1219 sq. km is overlooked and the projects are implemented and maintained by BBMP, the local Municipal authority. BDA prepares a Bangalore master plan for every 15 years and until now there are no TP schemes are Local area plans are being proposed. However, there are districts plan prepared for the administrative boundary as Local Planning Area which is concentrated mainly on land use. The area of the study is Yeswanthpur and Sandal soap factory, which are the prime location of the city with major landmarks such as World trade center, Yeshwanthpur Railway station and metro Station, Sandal soap metro station, Sandal soap factory, Iskcon temple and APMC yard. The UERP studio focused on the study and analysis of various urban and TOD components that make up the city and helps in the formation of the Local Area Plan. The following chapters unfold the different iterations that lead to the final Local area plan and interventions envisioned for the area.
