Town Planning scheme is self financing mechanism, which is used to planned greenfield areas, predominately in Maharashtra and Gujarat.Manipur is a peri-urban area in the western periphery of Ahmedabad, Gujarat and lies outside the AMC limits. The interventions for the green field development are planned through the mechanism of town planning scheme for a delineated planning area of 4 sq.km. Manipur located near SP ring road, has grown over the years predominately. The scheme area has potential in coming years due to proximity to SP ring road, yet lack of infrastructure and pollution which slowed the pace of development. Manipur is envisioned as peri urban node, where key focus would be multi-modal connectivity, equitable housing, providing amenities, enchasing economic and Narmada canal rejuvenation. This studio aimed to make the implementation economically viable for both the land owners and the authorities. This studio helped us to develop an understanding for evolving new approaches for land readjustment, plot amalgamation, implementation strategies, development model and regulations for a more equitable distribution of costs and benefits.
