“An ornament can be a property in a built architecture that can interpret spaces efficiently to perceive them as a coherent whole” The studio began by understanding the principles of ornamentation through nature. By studying how has nature developed ornamentation through geometry and the forces that form it. Armed with that knowledge, I developed methods of ornamentation through the use of lines, planes, addition, subtraction and assembly. Adding another dimension to how one can experience ornamentation, I developed methods of massing through different scales and proportions, settling on the theme of Pulsation Of Mass to explore further. Using this process the shop was designed, With a simple, lightly layered program, theses processes flourish and manifest to create elements of space, making the beautiful, functional as well. Here through a single module that has been massed in different ways come together to become a shop for jewellery, Ornamentation crawls through the surfaces of the walls, climbs up the stairs and stands tall as it becomes the display, exploring the component at various scales. The Institute Of Ornamentation started through the site and its context. It took into account the heritage and the history of AspenWall in Fort Kochi. Here the program was more complex and layered. Each space had to have its own identity while also falling into the larger blanket of the institute.  Here in The Institute Of Ornamentation, the ornamentation began with a detail that resulted in a larger element of ornamentation. The Elements themselves were functional in accordance with the program. The elements came together in the larger theme of the institute, Framed Corridors. The institute is a maze of different types of corridors, according to the activities within the space the type of element and corridor that it forms vary. The materials used, wood, metal, fabric and glass enhance the element. Going through different experiences while exploring the history and the future possibility of ornamentation. Ornamentation was achieved using the processes of the previous modules, From the line to the formation of an ornamented space. Here the detail that makes the stairs and stairs themselves are ornamenting the space, As the layers of the program, there are several layers of ornamentation in each and every space to come together with to make the institute.
