A neighborhood isn't just a cluster of different spaces. It comes to life by interaction and social interdependence among people living, along with its identity, culture, heritage, memory, and aspirations.
Vasna Gam is one such neighborhood, in the city. It was located on the western borderline of Ahmedabad; due to urbanization and the rapid increase of the city, it is now located in the center of the city but hasn’t lost its history of inter-dependencies. It has been a home for more than 500 families for more than 100 years. The families are divided into many smaller communities. From the past, all the communities are interdependent on each other, from offering occupations to protecting each other.
Though it is rich in social interaction and interdependency but doesn't have an identity of its own. It is one of the many villages which are there in the city. Many different cultures, arts, and movements are being lost which have made this village a neighborhood. This project tries to preserve them and make the city and village socially interdependent on each other
