what is the pattern of growth in smaller town and villages of India? what is happening to their traditional forms of craft? what happens to its ecological landscape? how can we, designers imagine those towns for the future? Here is an attempt in designing an institute in the town of Idar, known for its granite hills and its handcrafted wooden toys which is in the brink of its existence. An attempt has been made to bridge the gap between the old and the new of the town so as to set an example to other similar hamlets in India.
