Drive IN Cinema is a prime recreational hub in Ahmedabad and is famously known for its evening screenings of movies. The open air theatre houses an exceptionally cheerful feeling of enjoying the movies with family and friends at affordable rates. The selected plot is an extension to Drive in cinema, a site which was originally going to be used as an amusement park .Due to legal issues that park was never opened. The proposal is to revive this amusement park, through a program of mixed use typologies which attempts to break the generic density of the neighborhood by bringing in an eccentric nature of tectonics to the site. It is a city level intervention aiming at elevating the concept of a ‘deconstructed urban park‘; serving as a recreational pocket for the neighborhood and the city at large. The program attempts to club together commercial, institutional, residential and recreational zones to serve as highly active and user engaging spaces and also is a continuous propagation of time, space and memories attached with the neighborhood. The intention is to move the users both physically and metaphorically by retaining the forest like environment of site and introducing a fluid program diluted into floor plates. The ‘Deconstructed Urban Park’ has the presence of multiple textures, materials and sounds that invoke a sense of composure and relaxation.
