Ahmedabad, a proliferating city has experienced tremendous development in the past few decades, most of which is held by peri-urban areas. Memnagar, which lied on the western periphery of the R.Sabarmati has responded very well to the urbanization. The study area, which includes a 1sq.km. area of land in the vicinity of Gurukul complex at Memnagar, has been analyzed on parameters like, land-use, built form, transformation, road network and connectivity, infrastructure, etc. through which the area can be characterized as an affordable hood that provides affordable housing for all, basic infrastructure, good transportation network, etc. making it a comprehensive neighborhood.
