Thaltej is located at the western periphery of Ahmedabad. With the shifting of commercial and office spaces towards the west of Ahmedabad, the place is pacing to become the next central business district of Ahmedabad. Thaltej transformed from a quiet residential neighborhood to a sprouting suburb. The transformation journey is studied in this report with insights from various data collected through multiple interviews and surveys conducted in the Thaltej area. The report includes a detailed study of that suburb as to how the area evolved from a residential hub to a cosmopolitan center. For this analysis, one sq km area is selected in the Thaltej area. The report is mainly divided into two chapters, where the first chapter gives the gleam about the evolution and transformation that took place over 20 years. From curtailing restrictions on the green belt region to the recent metro corridor development, Thaltej grew to become the destination for city dwellers to flourish and settle in this region. This interesting transformation of the area is studied in this chapter. The second chapter analyzes street connectivity and its accessibility. Streets play an important role in bringing about the imageability of the area. The details in this chapter cover how car-driven suburbs influence street accessibility. And as to what extent street accessibility makes the neighbourhood inclusive. This report draws light on transformation and street connectivity taking place in the downtown Thaltej Area.
