Vijay Nagar is a residential neighbourhood located on the northern periphery of Ahmedabad. Located at the edge of the erstwhile municipal boundary, it displays the effect of containment policy i.e. the greenbelt on the fringes of the city. This green belt divided the neighbourhood into different zones while its removal released each of these zones at different times distorting the neighbourhood’s development potential. The effect of this policy can also be seen on the built environment where the lands that were developed at different times under different frameworks show differences in housing typology, the street network and the public realm.
