Improving Quality of Life via Economic Restructuring

Improving Quality of Life around the Tankshal area in the Historic City of Ahmedabad focuses on Economic Restructuring of the existing Business model of Wholesale markets while preserving the Traditional Timber structures by diverting the incompatible use of warehousing. The study of the area, group and individually, allowed an understanding of the stresses on the Heritage Urban fabric exerted by the commercialization of Residential areas within the Pols, as also the imminent loss of Heritage value due to incompatible use and lack of valorization of Heritage assets in the Tankshal area. This project develops from GroupWork conducted as a part of studio processes that preceded individual lines of inquiry.
