The studio revolves around learning the process of Ply-Split braiding. Various skills were acquired in the process of learning the different techniques of braiding. The studio introduced a design thinking process by exploration of new materials and techniques. These learnings were applied to make a 3-D product as the final exercise of the studio. The process started with understanding fibers through the process of spinning, followed by cord making, and learning techniques of braiding to make 3-D products by playing and exploring with different materials and combining them together. 

The above images show the process of spinning the yarn using a spindle and a book charkha to understand the properties of fibres. Followed by the process of cord making using a Bradshaw cord maker. Then, starting to learn some basic braids and trying new materials and ways to explore them.
The different technique of Ply-Split braiding we learnt during the process and their important characteristics.
The making of 3-D containers by the technique of POT ( Plain oblique Twinning ) by applying all the learnings acquired by making of sampler surfaces.
The Mid-sem assignment of making a small scale product like a flap-tote bag. The process of the bag went through with a lot of different ideations of the design evolution and the number of cords required to make the product.
The final exercise of the studio to make a large scale 3-D product. The process above shows the ideations carried out during the process of design evolution and the combination of designs to make a furniture piece.
The anthropometric study carried out to make the product keeping in mind the proper body dimensions of the user and the movements and body postures the user takes while playing a video game.
The user study and the scenario study carried out for the product to define the proper use and a suitable placement of the product in the given space.
The small-scaled models to understand the stability and the efficiency of the design while keeping in mind the user group and improvising on it to make the final prototype. The market and material study carried out to fulfil all the requirements of the product and then specifying the details about the product like it is UPCYLED AND SUSTAINABLE as there is a use of old tyres in the structure.
The process of making of the structure and the braiding part of the product and the details of figuring out the attachment of the braided sleeve to the structure of the product. Also the process of cord making to use 4-ply cords for the backrest part and using the TLOI (Two layered oblique interlacing) technique.
