Common effluent treatment plants (CETPs) are treatment systems specifically designed for the collective treatment of effluent generated from small-scale industrial (SSI) facilities in an industrial cluster. The project's objective is to transport, treat, and dispose of wastewater generated by textile manufacturers and hand screen printing firms in the area of Ahmedabad. Initially, wastewater from these companies was dumped or discharged directly into the municipal corporation's pipeline, which regularly overflowed or burst. The effluent was not treated according to the required criteria, resulting in river water pollution.
