Migrant Housing in Koliwada

The community of Koliwada is one of the oldest communities to reside in Dharavi. Behind the commercial wall of the Dharavi main road, there lies an entirely different built fabric. The Koli community has a strong sense of belongingness and a deep connection with nature. The design aims to provide housing as an extension of the existing fabric with more open spaces with a sense of belonging at the unit level and community level. It also aims to reestablish the connection between the community and the sea.
