The completion of the Sanitation value chain is essential for promoting health, preventing environmental pollution, conserving the ecosystem, and recovering and recycling resources in a city. Rajkot being a water scarce, it is very important to look for alternate sources of water such as treated used water. This will reduce the reliance on imported water and will help in cost recovery to ULB. As per the service level benchmark, the extent of treated water reuse in Rajkot is only 2.2%. The policy for treated water reuse of Gujarat Envisions 100% of reuse of treated wastewater by 2030. The proposed reuse plan would help the ULB to achieve the above-mentioned goal. The report discusses about the policy environment for the reuse of treated used water. Potential areas of reuse such as municipal use, industrial use, and agricultural use. Cost and water demand assessment, and current practices are documented for clear understanding. The proposal plan includes models for the supply of the treated used water, institutional framework and the financial part of the project.
