Apparel Park, Amraiwadi has a flourishing past with all the major cotton mills of the city situated in the area. Shutting down of mills led to decline of growth of the area. The site today seems divided into fragments namely- The Apparel Park, Depot, MSME, and the residential chawls, which are dependent on each other forming an ecosystem. The metro station acts as a medium to revive the flourishing past of Amraiwadi and provides them with enough opportunities to financially and socially uplift themselves. The neighborhood as a whole has seen a lot of changes from the best to the worst and has always tried to adapt to the situation to survive. The metro station as a facilitator of change and development is adaptive, responsive and interactive. The intention of the design is to connect all the different parts(however co-dependent) into one to form an efficient system as well as society. The intervention acts as a bridge which does not harm the already existing context but sits in it while subtly contrasting. There is no difference between the ground and the metro station, the ground extends on top forming a whole new land of opportunities along with inter-connecting the Apparel Park Area.
