Diu as a place attracts a lot of young crowd that usually travel from neighbouring states for liesure purposes. After a through analysis of the site region, it was found that the entire city did not have a single hostel. And for these reasons a Hostel was proposed for the given site. The design concept revolves around the idea of exploiting the volumes within the site through various levels and interventions. The interventions are created in a way where they are constantly over-looking the entire volume of the space, keeping the interaction alive. The spaces have a playful and modern look that subtly interact with the existing built form and materials through slightly transparent structural details. The main intervention is located in the Nave of the church which has an approximate height of 18meters. The main rooms of the hostel- them being the dorms are kept in the Nave in a manner that allows for a stark contrast with the original built form along with keeping in mind a consistent interaction with the original and various other created volumes within the space.
