EMERGENCY SHELTER USING TIMBER

The focus of the course was to understand the properties of different materials and their limitations in actual practice. We have to design an emergency shelter at South Lawn, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, using timber as the primary material. Form exploration and development are the first steps in the project. After finalizing the form design, we then analyzed and designed the structure for wind load, dead load, and live load as per the latest Indian Standard codes. We have designed the truss system and also explored the portal frame system. An initial parametric study is also done between the portal frame and truss system.
