The Basket

The project is a cafeteria located in the center for performing arts. The form is created when a five-sided quadrilateral (a quarter of an octagon) at the bottom transforms into a circle at the top. The form creates a strong vertical axis passing through the circle's center. It has a porous geometry at the base that allows smooth entry, but, in contrast, the strict vertical axis (the axis MUNDI) holds the person under the roof after entering the cafe. The main idea of the cafe was to create a continuous roof, and different levels of the mezzanine should break its continuity. All the spaces are arranged around the vertical axis.
