The city of Ahmedabad since the early 1900s has noticed newer growth centres drifting away from the core of the Old City centre. Though the urban core of the city of Ahmedabad has largely remained stagnant up till the late 1900s, it has undergone a series of evolutions in the past two decades. The area of Kalupur situated in the heart of the Old City has evolved from an interactive residential community centre to a commercial hub. The very prominent darwazas leading to Bhadra Fort now act as entrances to the busy commercial streets.
