Bopal is an urban fringe located at the western peripheries of Ahmedabad. The portfolio is a comprehensive analysis of a one-square-kilometer precinct in Bopal, which focuses on analyzing the study area in terms of its history, land development, built form, street network, and the livelihood of people living there. It also aims at understanding the determinants for its evolution from nothing to everything in the last two decades. Bopal is known for its heterogeneous characteristics and its rapid transformation which evolved from agriculture to residential land. The entire region was developed in a span of two decades and is still in the process of transformation. Therefore, It is a growing area with a mix of high-rise apartments and low-rise bungalows. The structures are sparsely distributed with lots of vacant spaces, and setbacks in between. The accessibility of Bopal has improved over time due to the additional road and BRTS development, which eventually increased local foot traffic. As it is isolated from the bustle of cities and enjoys nature and green cover combined with all conveniences, it is in more demand than other residential locations. Future prediction of development in Bopal through observation is what could be further studied.
