Raipur is a traditional town in the walled city of Ahmedabad and has a lot of age old history in its heritage structure but does not show much transformation in the last 100 years. On the other hand Gita Mandir area has undergone a lot of transformation and redevelopment in its urban context. The area shows a great combination of Built Fabric. Raipur showcases the oldest scenarios of the city because of its heritage and social values of people. The two parts of the precinct evolved differently in the last two decades without having any impact on each other's context. There is a very evident difference in the socio economic and the cultural context of the Gita Mandir and Raipur. Raipur has smaller footprints with clustered old settlements with people stuck to their age-old cultural values. The area of Raipur is basically packed with markets and residences with cluttered roads. Low rise housing covering maximum ground increasing ground coverage. Gita mandir on the other side has larger footprints with amalgamation of different land uses. The area is covered with industrial, commercial and institutional buildings with very few residential areas.
