Ranip, a north-western peripheral neighborhood is fragmented into two parts by a railway line. The railway line presently acts both as a physical and a psychological barrier positioned at the heart of this neighborhood. This portfolio is an attempt to highlight the influences of such inner-city physical boundaries through a detailed study of 1 sq. km of an area of Ranip in context to its physical transformation. It further elaborates the influence of juxtaposition of the railway line and over bridge on the built typologies and streets discussed in regard to social hierarchies and the factors that lead to it. The bigger argument to this study lies in the intangibles that are lost while planning a city. It aims to highlight the importance of inclusivity of intangibles within social and economic hierarchies while to form an integrated urban area.
