Shahpur is a heritage residential area located in the walled city of Ahmedabad which holds a lot of residential units as well as commercial and other land uses .It is non spatial (less coverage) and densely packed but still functional that results in less open area and less open space, eventually developed. Shahpur is an interesting pattern that co-exists with the new and old settlements .The old city is considered as an archaeological entity with its rich heritage building which has largely survived over centuries. Its urban archaeology strengthens its historic significance of that area that brings more attention and regulation, it also turns in a negative approach towards the settlement majorly focusing on the heritage building rather than their way of living which raises the question of Landmarks vs Livability.
