One such area is Nigam Nagar in Chandkheda, located in the north-western part of Ahmedabad. The nagar saw a major development after it was sanctioned into the TP Scheme in 2008 by the AMC. This led to a boom in real estate development of the area around 2008 onwards which otherwise would be a bunch of vacant lands. Over a very short period of time, a new rise of built form was seen in the cityscape of Chandkheda, Ahmedabad. This led to the increase in demand and supply of the housing as the by-product. The supply of such housing was provided by the developers who had invested in such land properties during the revamp of the TP scheme which allowed them to buy land at sustainable prices. Apartments built up to meet the greater demand of accommodating urban population and migrants. With such rapid urbanization of Nigam-nagar, the infrastructure and transportation support couldn’t follow up with this rate.
