The design of products to meet the demands of built spaces are challenging. The products will have to meet the demands of life style and technology changes. The studio will introduce the design process to find solutions in different domains of work, home and other spaces . The modules in the studio will enhance the learning of materials (metals), manufacturing processes, and human factors. The design process is introduced and practiced as students apply learned fundamental principles to multiple three dimensional forms, structures, and products. Students will use extensively digital - physical model making and presentation soft ware in the initial stages (2D and 3D). Students will address the historical context of their designs as they practice critical thinking, research, problem solving, and aesthetic refinement. Projects will require sketches, models, written reports and verbal presentations of design concepts. Students will be required to present their individual creative process through the exploration and manipulation of materials and methods to express a visual response to a theme or content.
