Vajra is a boutique hotel in the quaint city of Pelling in Western Sikkim. Pelling, known for its rich culture and heritage is a city of great historical and cultural importance. The Pemayangtse Monastery, the scenic view of the Kanchenjunga, the Rabdantse ruins, the rich variety of flora are a few attractions of the place. The interiors of the hotel have been designed to fit into this context of Pelling and act as an apt display of the culture, beliefs and practicesof Sikkim. The concept behind designing the hotel has been derived from the ritualistic objects of the Pemayangtse Monastery. One of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim, the Pemayangtse monastery holds great cultural importance and study of the relationship of the ritualistic objects to their space is the anchor to designing the hotel. The architecture of the hotel has also been designed by building on the architectural practices of a monastery, thus the interiors and the exteriors manage to tell a cohesive story, that of the Pemyangtse monastery.
