To design a furniture that encourage “learning by doing” as they “walk in someone’s shoes”. Role play is when a child engage in various ideas about the role that the person plays – their actions, responsibilities, feelings, etc. As they “walk in someone’s shoes”, they learn empathy and develop some insight into how people act and behave in various situations also encourages “learning by doing” which leads to more permanent form of knowledge. For children of 3-5 yrs. its important to develop social skills as they communicate with each other in a safe environment. The aim is to design a furniture which caters different role play styles where kids are engaged playing while guardians are at their work. It can be rented at both community space, like a day care centre or as required. Also, they can be rented for a period of time and then change style of furniture set for another type of role play. This way children are not bored with one activity hence developing another type of rental business model. Also, this will help the community space aur play school to promote there thinking and design systems for kids. This way it caters to not only costumer and user but also the rental company which is providing the idea. Role play such as cooking and baking or a shopping or doctor etc can be incorporated in the theme of furniture while designing as they reflect the local community, social interaction, active play, quiet contemplation, and group fun with caregivers.
