Slopesync is a design project for a community science center located in Lekawada, Gujarat. As the name suggests, the design revolves around the concept of building something that complements the terrain and offers an eye catching experience to the users who travel along the valley to reach the premise. The single continuous timber roof, embellished with mangalore tiles blends with the contours and is quite fascinating to look at, from the valley. The courtyards adjacent to most spaces become a hub for collaborative learning and acts as buffer spaces,  segregating spaces serving different functions. All spaces lead up to the community area, thus establishing its hierarchy among other spaces.

Site Impression and Program Interpretation. The site consisted of a valley that runs along the center and divided the plot into two parts. Standing at the valley and looking up the steep slope was quite fascinating to me. Hence the different levels and contours of the site became my anchor point. A design that responds to the contours then became my area of focus. Collaborative learning among the three groups namely students, researchers and villagers was emphasised through the above models. Apart from the main community area, several smaller courtyards also enabled this inter learning experience.
Decoding Spaces and Exploring Materials. The above slide depicts the process stages visited before arriving at a final design. A step further taken was by comparing the changes in the spatial qualities of a built form with respect to the material used.
Mid Semester Stage. The above slide shows the site plan at 1:200 scale. It mainly depicts the relation of the design to the site it sits on.

Floor Plan and Activity Details. Sense of proportion was better analysed by making floor plans. Sectional perspectives helped in conferring life to the design and spaces.
Final Stage. The above slide depicts the upper level plan and lower level plan of the design respectively.
Final Section Renderings. In the above, it can be clearly seen how the design responds to the contours through the sloping roof that complements the terrain of the site.
