This project on plot 331 of Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, aims at breaking experiential monotony on a given floor plate of a housing project. Overlaying a 1.8m x 1.8m spatial grid over a 5.4m x 5.4m structural grid results in 12 different unit layouts within 3 types of area choices.
Following a non-conventional journey even within individual unit plans breaks the experiential monotony of a regular 2bhk or 3bhk. The main aim was to create spaces that give rise to different experiences, create spaces that are remembered, create spaces that trigger memories. Situated in a daily street of Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, this project would house not only localities but a lot of migrant population. The cubical void in the centre of the mass acts as a play ground for community bonding. The corridor pattern of arrangement also celebrates the neighborhood relationships that have gone missing due to the current housing typologies
