The site- Kadarsha ni Nal (Surat) is known for the scrap market over the history. The site is very well ribboned with the varied community and small scale activities happening in these living mohallas. The open spaces are pockets of green spaces which are only crematories, hence not open to public. This character of the site spoke for opportunities: first, to create a green space enhancing the existing trees. Second to give a boost to the community by introducing spaces of learning through workshops run by neighbouring NGO’s. The programmatic spaces gives chance to employ people from around to exhibit and also learn skills. The park on the ground level provides commuters a sightful place of pause and a place for leisure to the neighbourhood. Skills like weaving, embroidery and loom working is encouraged to come on stage from the clusters of mohallas. These spaces functionas vocational training workshops, commercial centres and public amenities designed under the metro making the experience of walking through the workshops, commercial shops as they smoothly reach to the concourse level.
