Canopy Dreams is a housing strategy designed for the urban poor, addressing vulnerability to natural disasters and extreme heat. The project proposes an innovative roofing solution using pre-cast ferrocement channels for a double-layer roof. This design enhances thermal lag, keeping interiors cool, while also raising kitchen height to improve daylighting and hot air removal. The one-and-a-half-inch-thick channels are cost-effective, easy to install, and waterproof, resulting in a lightweight solution that also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the interior spaces. Canopy Dreams aims to swiftly transform urban poor housing, creating a resilient, comfortable, and visually appealing living environment.
