The site is yearning for an immediate attention in terms of remediation technologies in various forms from physical processes to biological transformations. Hence my efforts here are to address this paradox of bringing new into the existing; natural elements into the manmade shell; from being a privatized property to a civic infrastructure; from transforming the site which was a factor of industrial produce to a biological produce. Can the site transform from being a pollutant to being the green lung of the city? Suzhal, meaning an eddy or whirlpool, arises when two opposite currents of water meet. In this case- A dynamic transformation within the paradioxical context; that swiftly allows one to pause, rewind, reflect and then flow altering their notions, as an introspection. Having the Industrial hangover all over the site and the impacts it had on environment in past memory; the design approach was initiated through a collage model and a scaled physical model to understand the theme and character of the spatial volumes. Further defining the problem as a brief and solutions through functional and spatial explorations; the final design is iterated with sketches and digital presentations.
