Local Area Plans (LAPs) must be prepared for the revitalization and regeneration of urban areas in the state of Gujarat, according to a 2014 modification to the GTPUD Act of 1976. It is only utilized till date to draft Local Area Plans for the purpose of enhancing urban areas under TOZ and CBD zones. The Local Area Plans for the historic areas of the core walled city can also be prepared using this statutory approach.
