Located on the West side of the Sabarmati river, Vejalpur ward is split into two major neighborhoods; Vejalpur Gam, an Urban Village and Juhapura, India’s largest Muslim Ghetto (Laliwala et al., 2021). This precinct is characterized by a dual nature of the built environment which is reflected in its planning, street networks, land use and built form and access to services. This duality splits the two neighborhoods which is explored through a detailed study through GIS mapping, on site surveys and secondary sources.
