The study looks at the history and context of a precinct, or one square km study area, that is situated west of Ahmedabad. The Vejalpur Ward is divided into two major neighborhoods: Vejalpur, an Urban Village, and Juhapura, India's largest Muslim Ghetto (Laliwala et al., 2021).This area is characterised by a dual built environment, as evidenced by its design, roadway networks, land use and building form, and access to services. The two neighbourhoods are divided by this duality, which is investigated in-depth using secondary sources, on-site questionnaires, and GIS mapping.
