Gomtipur is an post-industrial suburb situated on the south of the kalupur metro station. It offers a affordable housing for lower middle and lower classes. The area was once dominated by industrial activities such as cotton mills and printing works, which later declined due to emergence of GIDC in 1960’s.Some of the activities still persists and employ a considerable amount of labour force, the precinct is dominated by residential zones which was created due to exodus of industries to periphery of city limits
