Amraiwadi transitioned from a rural village into an industrial hub in different periods, which reached its peak after the establishment of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation. In response to rising unemployment, Amraiwadi saw a resurgence with the promotion of small-scale industries in the early 2000s. The establishment of institutions like the Institute for Infrastructure, Research, and Management (IITRAM) and high-rise residential complexes further contributed to the precinct's development. The Ahmedabad Metro's expansion also improved connectivity. As a result, Amraiwadi's development has led to varying living standards across the precinct, making it a unique part of Ahmedabad.
