Manekbaug is situated in the central Ahmedabad,west of Sabarmati river and it is well connected from different parts of city which lies in Vasna and Gandhigram situated in the western part of Ahmedabad. Manekbaug is a crowded and distinct neighbourhood known for its residential amenities , institutional development and well connected road network.Due to the proximity of Manekbaug to city center that is 4.6 kms from city center(Income Tax Office) , the land tends to be more valuable.This report talks about history ,evolution and transformation,developing various built forms and typologies, streets,infrastructure of Manekbaug of the last two decades and unfolds it layer by layer to understand people’s centric approach.This is carried forward by the methodology of understanding and analyzing all parameters by interacting with people , primary survey of the area through GIS(Geographic Information System) and mapping together with physical documentation of the area.The idea is to understand the character of the space, people’s behaviour towards transformation, whether the transformation in the region is rapid or stagnant and the triggers for the same.The analysis is reported through key observations made through field visits, stakeholder consultation and secondary desk based research. The area has vibrant urban landscape and has evolved over the years into a prominent residential and commercial hub.
